Quarry Quest

On September 18th Mark and I took Jackson to Quarry Quest 2010. Quarry quest is a rock quarry in Neenah, WI that is open to the public on saturday a year. They let the kids drive the equipment, go fishing in one of the ponds in the quarry, learn how concrete is made, and play in sand. Quarry quest is a little boys dream land. Jackson LOVED it. Father's Day

Yesterday was a great day. It was Father's Day! Mark is the best father around. For Father's Day, I made cupcakes that looked like baseballs and footballs. Then we went on a 2 hour bike ride where we took a rest at Pizza Hut. When we got home from our bike ride the entire family took a nap.

Busy, Busy, Busy

We have been so busy lately. It all started with our travel to Indiana for our annual family picnic in mid-May. Then we headed to Myrtle Beach, SC, then last weekend Jackson and I went to Indiana for a graduation party. We are home this weekend, then the following weekend we head back to Indiana.

Last weekend was the first time I traveled with Jackson by myself. The ride to Indiana wasn't bad. Jackson was a perfect angel, even though it took us 5.5 hours, when it should take 4 to 4.5 hours. The drive home, is a different story. We went to my brother's house and had pizza for dinner and played in the hot tub. Jackson and Fiona played in the hot tub as if it was a kiddie pool. Oh, I can't leave Lux out as she would hang her paws in the hot tub and then dog paddle until Jackson's dinosaurs were within reach and then she would take off with them. It was too funny!

Next week I'll be working on Dad and Nancy's wedding cake. I'm very honored to make the cake. I sure hope it turns out like they want it. :) I'll post pictures!

Then the Fourth of July weekend we are suppose to go with our friends to their cottage. We are looking forward to hanging out with our friends. We always have a blast at the cottage.

I think after that we are staying put for awhile! I'm traveled out!

Mother's Day

I had a really good Mother's Day on Sunday! My boys took me to a wonderful brunch, then we went to the park and played. For dinner I made yummy Spaghetti and a cake. I made the cake with fondant. I like buttercream frosting better...easier to work with and taste better. I love my boys! They ROCK! Here are a few pictures from Mother's Day.

Easter Egg Hunt!

Jackson participated in an Easter egg hunt at the house. Uncle Greg and Daddy hid the eggs. Jackson did very well finding the eggs. After he was done he turned to me and Mark and said, "More, more, more!" It was way too cute. Uncle Greg went and hid the eggs again! Jackson just loved it!

I can't believe Jackson is already two! Where did the last two years go? He had a wonderful birthday party. The weather was nice, he was able to see both set of grandparents, and his aunts and uncles. We had pizza for lunch and I made him a Mickey Mouse birthday cake and it turned out AWESOME. Juli -- My Best Friend, Mom, Sister...A wonderful Woman

Juli and I go way back...I was 15 when I met Juli. She was my Cheerleading coach, then turned into one of my Best Friends. She has always been there for me. She has seen me at my worst and my best. Juli was the rock in high school that I needed. She kept me on a tight leash! I thank her for that.

Back in 2005 I received a phone call from Juli telling me that she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She fought and she won! Then last week I received that call I never wanted to get...She told me that the cancer is back and it's in her pelvic bone. She is only 42 years old! A mother of 5... this can't be happening, but as Juli told me God only gives you what you can handle. I guess God believes she can handle it. I know she can! She is one strong cookie!

On Sunday we took Jackson sledding. This was the first time he went sledding. It was my first time in about 18 years. At the end of the hill Jackson would say more, more, more. It was too cute. We were out there for about 40 minutes. We had a blast!

Building For Kids

Last week we took Jackson to the Building For Kids http://www.buildingforkids.org/index.php.
He loved it! We spent 2.5 hours there just running around, playing in the garden, painting a picture, playing on a fire truck, and climbing a tree house. The cost was a little higher than we wanted, but it was well worth it.

Wisconsin Dells

Last week we went to the Wisconsin Dells with my family. It was a nice mini vacation. The resort we stayed at, Wilderness Resort, was very nice and had a lot of things to do. The water parks were nice, except the water was alittle chilly. Jackson loved the 3 story playground. The adult kids had a blast playing Laser Tag. Just to set the record, I won! Little Farmer

Last weekend we went to the Little Farmer in Fond Du Lac, WI. The Little Farmer is a farm that has hay rides, a playground, pumpkins, Carmel apples, and fresh homemade pies!!! Jackson really enjoyed feeding the goats, and petting the rabbits. He also called the pumpkins "ball" . :)

Visit with Auntie Em and Uncle Greg

This past weekend Auntie Em and Uncle Greg came up to see us. This visit was amazing. If you do not know I'm a perfectionist and I tend to want to make everybody happy and I get all stressed out when people visit because I want it to be perfect. However, this weekend I was up front with Greg and Em that Jackson doesn't really sit still to go out to dinner. We can go out to dinner, but he can only handle about 30 minutes before he is ready to run. They were so understanding that they offered to just bring dinner home (which is what we normally do) or maybe they didn't want to be embarrassed by Jackson. :) After dinner Jackson and Lux played in the living room. It was great to see Jackson and Lux play since this is really the first time Jackson has been around a big dog. Lux is a 19 month old Golden Retriever - she is still a puppy herself. Jackson would get Lux's attention and then he start running around the coffee table and Lux would just chase him and once she caught up to him, she would lick him. Jackson would just giggle and smile when Lux licked him. This went on for about 30 minutes. It was too funny.

On Sunday we went to Sonic as it's brand new in Appleton. As we pulled up to Sonic we were met by a employee and he told us that Sonic was only open to people with a V.I.P pass. We said ok we will come back when Sonic is open to the public. The man then said no come on in I will act like you gave me a V.I.P pass. Then he went on to say that our entire meal is free because it was training for the servers. What a sweet deal!!! We got $28.00 worth of food free! This is when the situation started...As we went to leave Mark says the car won't start. I'm like stop messin with us. He then tried to start the car again and it won't start. Could it have been a worst time? We had Jackson and Lux in the car and we just took out the jumper cables and stroller so Lux could sit in the back end. What luck is that? So, Mark and Greg pushed the car out of Sonics driveway and the guy who let us in free got an employee to jump our car. Even though the car died the free food was worth it!

Jackson's first really boo-boo

A few weeks ago Jackson and I were sitting on our neighbors stoop. I lean over to smell a flower. I wasn't thinking Jackson would mock me, but he did. As he was mocking me he tumbled right over and smacked his head on the pavement. He never had a chance to get his hands out in front of him. It happened so quickly that I didn't have time to react. Needless to say our visit with our neighbors ended and we went home and gave Jackson some TLC. My poor baby!

Slippers

Jackson is just starting to play in his bedroom, mainly because we bought Jackson an activity rug. It's funny how Jackson knew to put his cars on the rug and push them around. He even makes a car noise. Here is how the slippers come into play....so the other day I asked Jackson to put his cars away in his toy box (he had never really used the toy box). As he opened the toy box he noticed a pair slippers. He brought them over to me and insisted that I help him put them on. Once I put them on he would walk around for a few minutes and then he would giggly. So how did we get these cute slippers? We actually got them from work- that's the Cottenelle puppy. Isn't Jackson adorable?

Wild Air!!

Wild Air is an indoor inflatable playground. Jackson just loves it! We love it too because it is rather cheap $5.00 for 30 minutes, which is plenty of time for Jackson. Oh, Jackson loves to go down the slide by himself! He has no fear!!!

In daycare Jackson is learning about insects and spiders. I guess at 15 months he understands that!?! Monday night when I picked up Jackson from daycare, they let us parents know that Wednesday was come to daycare as a insect or spider. What kind of notice is that. Well I put some thought into it and asked a few people from work for some ideas. I really thought staying up late for arts and craft for Jackson would come much later in life. I was thinking he would be in 5th grade, not 15 months old. All I know is, as I was making this spider for Jackson I smiled ear to ear. This kind of thing is what makes moms special. Every year the Darboy Kiwanis Club puts on the Chicken Fest. We took Jackson to the festival this year. Jackson played on the playground, and played the Duck game, and met Jada the music group. Chicken Fest has fried Chicken and Chicken Wings. We saw a Chicken wing eating contest. Very interesting is all I'm going to say. The best thing about this fest is it is free to get in and we only spent $20 on food and game tickets!!! We had a great time!

Jackson made Mark an apron for grilling that said World's #1 Dad! I would have to agree with that. Mark is an awesome father. I love watching him and Jackson interact. We are back!

We got back last night from Myrtle Beach, SC. We had a blast! It was a wonderful family vacation. We enjoyed see our family. It's amazing how fast our nieces and nephews are growing.

We rented a beach house in North Myrtle Beach! The house was right on the beach. It was great to wake up and look outside and see the ocean. It also had a pool and a hot tub. The house was AWESOME!

Jackson was too funny at times. He didn't like the sand on his feet. He loved playing in the pool. By the time we left he was just jumping into the pool. He would go under and come up laughing. He has no fear!!!

He played with his cousin Lily, who is 22 months old. They would chase it other and climb up on the brick fireplace. Jackson would take toys away then she would come and get them back from him. It was adorable!

Of course the seafood was great! We ate at my favorite restuarant there Drunken Jack's!

This was a very nice vacation!

It's Been A While...

I know I haven't posted anything in a month. We have just been busy. Work has been crazy and by the time I get home the last thing I wanted to do is get on the computer. It's not an excuse it's the just the truth. I have thought that I should get on the computer and post, but I just didn't. Also Jackson has had three ear infections in the last month. We been dealing with that and he is teething AGAIN!!!

The weather up here is nice for once. We have worked in the yard and cleaned out the flower beds and put in fresh mulch. After work we have been taking Jackson outside to play. He just loves being outside. He is so funny about the grass. He'll walk in it, but if he falls down and his hands touches it he starts to wine. Its funny!

We went on our first bike of the season two weekends ago. Jackson loved it. He was babbling and talking up a storm. On our bike ride we stop for ice cream and Jackson had his first ice cream cone. He was so cute eating it.

Jackson got his first scraped knee on Wednesday night. I'm sure there will be many more. He also loves to push his wagon down the driveway and Mark and I got chasing after him and the wagon.

We have been getting notes sent home about Jackson being bit at daycare. It's annoying because he isn't getting bit because he is fighting with another child. They told me that its unprovoked. Both times he has been bit it has bruised. I know there's not much I can do about because they are kids, but it's annoying to have to sign incident reports a few times a week.

We took Jackson to see the Easter Bunny yesterday. He did very well with the Easter Bunny. He did not cry, but he sure checked him out. The Easter Bunny arrived this morning and left a basket for Jackson. Thanks Aunt Bernie for the Dancing Duck. Jackson wasn't sure about it at first, but after a few time of watching it dance he was into it. We are going to an Easter Brunch this morning with our friends Katie and Luke. I'll post pictures later today!

ENT Update

Yesterday we took Jackson to the ENT doctor for his two week follow up. The doctor was awesome. He pick up Jackson and sat him on his lap and was explaining to Jackson about all of his instruments and why his uses them and how they worked. Jackson was listening so intensely. It was very cute. The best thing about the appointment was when the Dr. Burton said his ears look FABULOUS!!!! We will not need have to see Dr. Burton for six months! :)

1 Year Check Up

Jackson had his 1 year check on Friday 4/3. He is 20.5 Lbs and 29.5 inches long. The doctor is very pleased with his growth. He did get 4 shots, even though it was his birthday. I felt bad, but I believe that if you are going to vaccinate your child then you should follow the guidelines on the appropriate timing on receiving the vaccination. Tomorrow Jackson goes to the ENT doctor for a follow up from his surgery for his tubes.

When I told my brother Greg that Mark and I were having a boy he was very excited! For Christmas of 2007 Greg bought Jackson, a pair of Micheal Jordon basketball shoes (I would have never spent that much money for baby shoes). I have finally put shoes on Jackson. All the teachers at his daycare siad Jackson's shoes were awesome.

Doctor Update

We took Jackson to the ENT doctor and yep, he needs tubes. The wonderful doctor was talking and decides to check out his ears and say "Oh My, little guys has yuk in his left ear." I said, "he has an infection?" Doctor says yes he does. How in the world does this happen? The poor guy just got off of antibiotics shots two weeks ago and he now has another one. I personally think the last one never cleared up. Jackson's surgery is March 27th. I sure hope this helps Jackson.

Poor Jackson had pink eye and an ear infection. I guess that explains why he just wants to cuddle.

Pink Eye

Today I stayed home from work with Jackson as he has pink eye. Last night when I picked him up from daycare his right eyes was gross looking. However its already looking much better today, thanks to the wonderful antibiotics he is taking. Oh the joys of him being in daycare. Believe it or not he does better with eye drops than take medicines orally. Tomorrow we take Jackson to the ENT doctor to see about tubes. I'll let everyone know what the ENT doctors tells us.

I love these PJs on Jackson. I can't believe is getting so big and in 5 weeks he will be one. Time has just flown past!!

If you remember Jackson didn't gain much from 6 months to 9 months and the doctor wanted him to come back in six weeks to make sure he is gaining weigh. Well, Friday was our appointment and Jackson now weighs 19lbs. and 9oz. Jackson gained just shy of 2 lbs in six weeks. The doctor was very pleased with his weight gain. That's all for the good news. For the bad news...Jackson has double ear infection----AGAIN---- . We didn't even know. He was acting like himself. We couldn't do oral antibiotics again as Jackson just finished antibiotics a week and half ago. The other option was antibiotics via shot. This antibiotic is known to clear up 99% of ear infections. Its a three series shot and how it works is, you receive the first shot, then return to the doctors 24 hours later to see if the infection clears up, if not you receive the second shot, then you return 24 hours later to see if the infection clears up, if not you receive the third shot, then you return to the doctors to see if the infection has cleared up. The doctor said you can only receive this antibiotics once. Well, we decided to try this to get it he infection cleared up. Jackson received the first shot Friday afternoon, we opted to wait until today to see the doctor as she was the on-call doctor. We wanted her to see Jackson since she knew exactly how bad the infection looked behind his ear drum. Today we went in and it's better but not perfect, so Jackson received the second shot. We go back tomorrow to see if it's cleared up. I pray to God that the infection is cleared up as I can not handle seeing Jackson get shots. Since this is Jackson 5th and 6th ear infection we are going to go and see an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor to see if Jackson needs tubes inserted into his ears. I made the appointment for March 16th. If I was a gabbling woman I would bet Jackson is recommended to get tubes. I believe that is all that is going on.

This past week Mark went on a business trip to Fullerton, CA. While there he was able to go to Disneyland and pick up Jackson some Mickey Mouse Ears. Mark even had Jackson put on the back of the hat. Isn't Jackson cute in his Mickey Mouse hat?

9 Month Check Up

This morning Jackson went for his nine month check up. He received a clean bill of health!!! He weights 17 lbs and 14 oz and it 27 1/2 inches long. He hasn't really gained any weight from his 6 month check. The doctor is not to worry about it because he is moving and burning off more calories now. However, we do have to take him back in 6 weeks to ensure he is gaining weight. The doctor also gave me the go ahead that I can switch Jackson to whole milk at 11 months when I run out of frozen breast milk. I'm so happy!!! That means Jackson pretty much has been breastfed exclusively with the exception of a little bit of formula here and there. Doctor also said that Jackson is right where he should be for development. She was pretty happy to hear that he is pretty much on table food. I've been holding back a little on the table food, but she said if he wants it give it to him. We just can't give him the typical no-nos of eggs, peanut butter, honey, and seafood.

Note to Grandpa John - Doctor told me to light up and let you take your grandson for ice cream!!!! Next time you come to WI, yes, you may take Jackson for ice cream!

Happy New Year's!!! We didn't do anything for New Year's except spend the night in as a family. :) Jackson was in bed at 830 and Mark and I were in bed by midnight. It sounds lame, but that's okay as I'm still having issues with my Crohn's disease and Jackson has a cold. 2008 was wonderful as Mark and I became parents for the first. Jackson is such a blessing! Jackson adds so much enjoy and happiness to our lives. I'm sure hope 2009 will be just as wonderful as 2008.

Day Off

Today I took the day off from work. It was my last day of vacation of 2008. I really need this day as I have been fight my Crohn's disease for the last five days. Then yesterday afternoon my back and neck started to ache as if I was coming down with something. I'm pretty tough, but really why do I need to fight both Crohn's and the flu at the same time? The two hour nap this morning was well needed. I felt better after my nap so I decided to do some scrapbooking. Then late this afternoon my Crohn's started acting up again. While I was making Christmas dinner Jackson thought he would help me get stuff from the fridge. I turned my back for a whole 2 seconds. Jackson is really moving around and he has started to walk along the furniture.

We had a wonderful Christmas yesterday. We got up at 0700 and Santa made it even though we have 3 feet of snow. Jackson had fun opening gifts and playing with his new toys. Not to brag but I made a wonderful Christmas dinner. We had Pork Chops with apple sauce, brussels spouts, stuffing, and sweet potato casserole. This was a wonderful first Christmas as a family of three.

Last night Mark and I took Jackson to see Santa at Kimberly-Clark's Holiday Party. It was really nice. They had a local Children's Performer singing Christmas songs, face painting, balloon artist, and Santa. I wasn't sure how Jackson would react to Santa, but it didn't phase him at all. Long Weekend

I posted the other day that Jackson has a double ear infection. He started to act like himself last Wednesday so we thought he was on his way to getting back to normal. Then Friday night came and he got up 4 times. Saturday he was fussy and needy. Then Saturday night he got up 5 times. I told Mark enough is enough we taking him back to the doctors. Sunday morning Mark and I packed Jackson up and went to our doctors office. Sure enough his ear infections are no better than they were on Monday. The antibiotics that Jackson was given is not working. Doctor gave us another type to try. Today he has been so clingy and fussy. We feel horrible for him, as there is nothing Mark or I can do for him. I sure hope this antibiotics work.

When it rains in the Lawson household it pours!!!!

It all started last weekend Jackson was just a fussy and needy baby. He would wake up about 3 times a night. Then on Sunday morning he started pulling at his right ear. I just knew what that meant, he had a ear infection. Monday morning Mark took him to the Doctors while I went to the dentist and in deed he has not one ear infection, but two!!!

Then Monday afternoon I had to take my cat puddy to the vet. She decided to stop eating over the weekend. The vet took one look at her ears and said, she is a very sick kitty as she is very jaundice. . I started crying because I knew that she would recover from it. We did blood work and confirmed her liver was failing. Doctor gave us special soft cat food to see if Puddy would eat and keep it down. It did not work. On Wednesday we had an ultrasound done on her liver to see what was going on. The vet could barely put pressure on Puddy, she would start meowing and groaning. We decide that we could not stand to see Puddy in pain, so we let her go to Kitty Heaven.

I believe that was the major events of the week!!!!

When I got home last weekend from spending time with my aunt and cousin I gave Jackson a bath. I kept seeing something in his mouth and I was trying to get it out. Then I realized it was his tooth. Its the bottom tooth, then 4 days later Mark and I noticed another white spot. I put my finger in his mouth and sure enough another tooth. Jackson now has two teeth on the bottom that are sprouting through. :) Its funny to watch him because you can tell he his trying to figure out what those rough spots are.

Jackson is also starting to eat baby puff cereal and use his sippy cup. Check out the video of Jackson eating.
