Sunday Morning Service

As I told you last week Mark and I having been searching for the correct Church for us. This week we attended the Fountain City United Methodist Church. We were going to attend the United Methodist in downtown Knoxville, but decided on trying Fountain City United Methodist because it is only 4 blocks from our home. Here are our thoughts about today's service;

Beth's thoughts:
1. Very comfortable and welcoming
2. Very good gospel
3. Bulletin showed many different programs that we could become involved in.

Mark's thoughts:
1. Location very convenient
2. Woman pastor was different than want I'm use to, but very good.
3. Service was very comfortable, since I grew up Methodist.

We both agreed that we could return to this Church and attend Sunday services.
Next week we will attend a Lutheran Church in our attempt to find the right church for us.

Autumn in the Smokey Mountains!

Today, Mark and I went to the Smokey Mountains to see the fall colors. We did this last year and loved it so much we decided to do it again. We rode the Ober Gatlinburg Tram, then we took the ski lift to the top of Mt. Harrision, which is 3590 ft above sea level. Its so pretty up there and they have a Bluegrass Band playing while you look over the moutain. Mark and I both agreed that this year's colors were prettier than last year.

The top two pictures we took while at the top of Mt. Harrison. The picture of Mark and I was a picture that Ober Gatlinburg provides for a small fee. We bought it last year, so I had to have it this year too. :)

We also went and drove through the mountains. Mark was going to take me to Cades Cove, but when we got to the sign it said would take 2 to 3 hours to do the whole loop. We decided not to do it, because it would be getting dark soon. The drive was well worth it. We didn't see any wildlife, but once again the colors were absolutely beautiful.

Sunday

Today Mark and I went to church for the first time as a married coupled. We have been struggling on what religion we want to practice. Mark was raised as Methodist and I was raised Catholic. We both felt that its not fair to pressure the other to convert to a religion that didn't feel right. To solve this we decided that we would visit all types of denominations to find the correct church and beliefs for us as a couple. We realize that WE both need to to feel comfortable in the church's beliefs. This Sunday we went to a Catholic Church in downtown Knoxville.

Beth's Thoughts:
1. Parish was an older generation
2. Good Gospel
3. Felt a little out of place

Mark's Thoughts:
1. Reminded me of uptight Methodist Service
2. Good Gospel
3. Kneeing not my cup of tea :)

I told Mark that there was a new Catholic Church on the westside of Knoxville and before we totally rule out the Catholic Church we should visit it to see if it is a younger parish.

Next week we are going to visit the United Methodist Church downtown Knoxville.

Stay tune to see our thoughts....

Saturday Night!

Mark and I had two other couples over for dinner. We crave pumpkins and made carmel apples. We had such a great time. Here is a picture of the pumpkins that we carved. Our freinds Rachel and Marc craved the cat. Mark and I craved the spider and our other friends Gina and Nick craved their name "The Black's". This is what we now do for a weekend outing. Which I must say I enjoy hanging with my freinds then going to the bars:).
